We’re thrilled to announce Coach Matt Rosdahl as the new Head Football Coach here at D.O! Coach Rosdahl brings a wealth of knowledge, dedication, and a proven track record of success to the D.O family.
Coach Rosdahl shared insights into his coaching journey, teaching career, and the factors that drew him to lead the DO football team. Having coached high school football for 16 years, Coach Rosdahl has garnered a deep understanding of the game and the dynamics of shaping young athletes.
“I have been coaching high school football for 16 years,” Rosdahl stated, highlighting the extensive experience that will contribute to the growth and success of the DO football program.
In addition to his coaching, Coach Rosdahl has 19 years of teaching experience under his belt, specializing in social studies.
“I teach social studies with most of my years spent teaching US History, American Government, and Economics.”
Coach Rosdahl explained that his decision to coach at DO was influenced by a number of factors.
“Initially, it was the talent coming back on the football field. Having coached against D.O twice last season, I knew the potential that the team had,” Rosdahl stated.
Following thorough research on the school, conversations with fellow coaches throughout the district, and meetings with the administration, Coach Rosdahl expressed his excitement not only for the coaching position but also for joining the D.O family as a teacher next semester.
“I have had the opportunity to work with some amazing coaches around the country which has shaped me as a coach. I was in Florida for five years where I had the privilege of working under a Hall of Fame coach at South Browad High School. As the Head Varsity Football Coach at Deuel High School I took over a struggling program and ended my career there as the winningest coach in school history in terms of total wins, regular season wins, playoff wins, and playoff appearances. I then spent five years coaching in Georgia which allowed me to work with some amazing coaches and really broaden my knowledge and skills before spending the past year coaching up at Palo Verde.”
When asked about his approach to player development, Coach Rosdahl emphasized an all-inclusive approach.
“I believe in developing the whole student-athlete in terms of their physical, mental, and emotional health and wellness. To me coaching is as much about developing outstanding young men and women and preparing them for life off the field as it is about wins and losses.”
To connect with players, parents, and fellow coaches, Coach Rosdahl employs a variety of channels, including verbal communication, emails, Hudl, the Band App, and social media.
D.O is thrilled to welcome Coach Rosdahl to the Diamondback family and looks forward to an exciting season under his leadership!
