Welcome back from break Diamond Backs! The first week of school, D.O administration has announced their new policy called tardy sweeps.

What is a tardy sweep? A tardy sweep is when all teachers lock their door right as the bell rings, any student who is caught outside of their class must report to the atrium and receive a lunch detention. An immense amount of tardies will lead to a suspension.

When students are in lunch detention, they will receive a bagged lunch or can bring lunch from home. They are not allowed to talk, no headphones, no phone, no devices, etc. They are also not allowed vending machine or food truck access. Students will be given the time to write a reflection about why they received a detention and what they will do next time to avoid it.

Students get 4 tardys as a warning. 5 tardies there will be a student conference along with a parent phone call. 10 tardies will result in 1 lunch detention and a parent phone call. 15 tardies results in 2 lunch detentions with a parent phone call. After 20 tardies a parent conference will be requested with their house administrator. Once students hit 25+ they will be no longer allowed to attend any school activities and events.

D.O administrators will announce the tardy sweeps via text message. Some days their will be a random sweep, where students do not know when the tardy sweep will occur.

All DBacks should be reporting to their classes on time to avoid consequences.
