As for the new school year, there have been many changes for CCSD schools, students, and staff. For example, we have cell phone pouches, you can’t bring phones to the bathroom, and new lockdown changes. For lockdown procedures, they gave teachers these buttons for their lanyards; when something happens or something concerning happens they can just hit the button, signaling the admin and putting the school in lockdown.
The students must get used to the new lockdown procedures and how they work. It is different from all the other kinds of old lockdowns that we had. With these new lockdown procedures, it can be scary and it can be a different experience but it is all something we have to get used to same as the other rules in the school for the new school year.
A new thing that some schools are doing is tardy sweeps. They’re doing it for middle school and high schools. What tardy sweeps do is they make the students get to class faster because lately they have been getting to class late and it has been a big problem in the schools so they do these tardy sweeps and tells the students that if they are late during this tardy sweeps then they either get lunch detention or after school detention. These tardy sweeps are making the students go to class faster and be on time.
Another new thing that they are doing in the schools is either having two lunches instead of three or having one lunch instead of two and some students are telling their parents what is going on and because of that the parents are complaining because for students half of the kids either make their lunch or they get lunch from the schools. The students getting lunch at the schools aren’t able to get lunch because they have to wait in a long line and some schools have a lot of students and because of that the lines are long and the students don’t have time to get lunch because of how long the lines are.
If you want to get lunch from the school you gonna have to ask to leave your class early to be able to get lunch. With the incoming freshman, it’s hard to get lunch because of how many students there are, and with all of these new rules, we all need to get used to it and make the best of it because they are trying something new and we all don’t know if it’s just for this school year or if it’s mandatory. If it’s mandatory then we all will get in the groove of these new rules and procedures that they have for this year.
