With the previous seasons being complete busts, losing first and second round in playoffs, this upcoming season seems promising. Oncoming an entire new coaching staff in hopes to change the fate of Desert Oasis football. These new coaches aren’t just average Joe’s, every single one of them have experienced playing and coaching at the college level.
After an interview with the new head coach, Matt Rosdahl, he states, “This team genuinely has the talent to go far and win state if we can just do what we’re supposed to do.”
This gives hope for all the now seniors to finally have a team that can actually go somewhere instead of being disappointed as they were many years before. Eight of the ten players interviewed said they had faith for the team to make it all the way and get that state ring they’ve been craving so much.
Coming off a two game winning streak, scoring over 40 in both, the Diamondbacks come into week three with a head of steam hungry for that third win. Defensive coach, Bryan Yancey, has full faith in the head of the defense, Gavin Winterrowd, to lead the defense to victory after starting QB, Vinny Hales, injures his ankle during week one game against Del Sol.
Overall, head coach Rosdahl from Palo Verde High School took a long time to get coaches from his past to come out and coach Desert Oasis football. After talking to the new coaches from Georgia, Bryan Yancey and Brenden Harton, both agreed they hated the weather in the start of summer and were sure as a team Desert Oasis could make it farther than the years before.
Although the coaches are a bit rough at times and do get angry when the team isn’t doing what they are coached to do, the team as a whole loves the coaching staff and are fairly confident they can and will win state this year given the great coaches presented to them.
