NFL season is finally back! Many fans have been waiting to see their teams play again. Over the break for all the NFL teams, there have been many updates with all the teams and new players.

During the summer there was an NFL draft. The draft is where all the coaches from both divisions draft players from college that they have been watching from the last college football season. For example, Brock Purdy was the last pick in the NFL draft in 2022. He played college football for Iowa State University. Purdy became the string quarterback for Jimmy Garopollo and Trey Lance. Now he is the official quarterback for the 49ers because both Garopollo and Lance got injured and that caused Purdy to play quarterback for all the games.

Now, for the Niners, there have been many updates for their team and there have also been some rumors. For the rumors, the fans thought that Deebo Samuel was going to get traded to a different team but that was not true, Brandon Aiyuk signed a four-year contract with the Niners, Trent Williams signed a three-year $82.66 million deal, and they drafted a new player during the NFL draft.

Since last Thursday, the NFL kickoff game has started. On Thursday last week was the Ravens vs. Chiefs game. The Chiefs beat the Ravens 27-20. There was talk about the game being delayed because of lightning at Arrowhead Stadium. During the end of the game, the Ravens had the ball, and the Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson threw the ball into the endzone for a touchdown their TE (Tight End) Isaiah Likely caught the football. They all celebrated the big touchdown but then there was a flag on the play and after review, Isaiah’s big touchdown was out of bounds because his toe was out and that’s what caused them to lose against the Chiefs.

On Friday last week was Packers vs. Eagles in Brazil! This game was different because they played in Brazil. The difference between the stadium they played at and what they usually play at when they’re at home is the stadium is smaller than the ones they have. The Eagles and Packers were told not to wear green because of a soccer rivalry. With just a few seconds left in the game Jordan Love, the quarterback for the Packers, got injured with just a few seconds left in the game. They believe that Jordan Love sprained his MCL in his left knee. Jordan Love got injured when he had his lower left leg caught beneath the body of the Eagles defensive lineman Jalen Carter. With Jordan Love being out of the game with an injury the Packers lost that game 34-29.

In the NFL there are also Sunday and Monday night games. On Sunday last week, there were a lot of teams playing but let’s name a few and get to the main Sunday night game. So let’s do a short recap of the games. First, the Buffalo Bills played against the Cardinals and won 34-28. Second, the Titans and the Bears also played but they took an unexpected loss 24-17. Third, the Dallas Cowboys played against the Browns and beat them 33-17. And lastly, the Bengals played the Patriots but lost 16-10.

Now time for the main Sunday night event… The Lions vs. the Rams. During the game, the quarterback for the Rams threw a clean interception. Later on in the game, WR (Wide Receiver) Puka Nacua had to get checked for injury because he was having a hard time getting up so he was out for a questionable injury. Stafford, the quarterback, also got a little hurt. Later on in the game, the Lions were still ahead winning 26 20.

For Monday night’s game, it was Niners vs. Jets and this was a close game. It was also the first game with quarterback Aaron Rodgers back from a torn Achilles tendon injury. During this game, the 49ers running back, Christian McCaffery, was out with Achilles tendonitis. The head coach Kyle Shanahan said that this injury has been causing McCaffery a lot of trouble because the injury is requiring more treatment. Jordan Mason was playing McCaffery’s position for the game. Mason ran 147 yards on 28 carries, scoring one touchdown. He averaged 5.3 yards per carry. Later on in the game towards the end, they took out Aaron Rodgers to not have him get hurt again. The Niners ended their first game of the season with a big win 32-19.
