On Friday Sept. 6, the Diamondbacks took an unfortunate loss against the Sierra Vista Mountain Lions 21-15. This unfortunate event lost Desert Oasis the bell and sent the team into a spiral. Luckily, the team was able to come back the following Monday ready to work.
Throughout the week of practice following the loss, the Diamondbacks were able to get a lot of work put in and were able to significantly improve their craft. However, Wednesday was taken away due to the air quality of the fires from California. Even though they lost a whole day, they seemed to have gotten a lot done in the school cafeteria, being able to walk through the motions gave the players a good idea on what they need/can do to prepare themselves for the Sunrise Mountain Miners.
On Friday Sept. 13, the Diamondbacks took a 50 minute bus ride to Sunrise Mountain High School. As a result of the game, the Diamondbacks won 35-6 making their record 4-1. With another win in the books, the Diamondbacks plan to take this bye- week to really work towards that 5th win for the homecoming game.
Although the loss against Sierra Vista really took a toll on the Diamondbacks, with all the backlash of the fans and students who attend the school, I personally believe this is the push they needed to be the team they know they can be. All the goofing around in and out of practice following the loss, turned into pure focus and lead this team into the next game purely locked in. After the win, all we can do is hope the team can remain as focused as they were and allow them to bring another win for our homecoming game Sept. 27.
