After the bye-week Desert Oasis had to work on themselves to come out with the win, the Diamondbacks took a disappointing loss to the Centennial Bulldogs of 21-55. After the game, the coaches were talking about what’s called a “loser mentality”. This essentially is the way you look and think when losing.
Coach Brenden Albert, offensive skill coach, explained that “The scoreboard doesn’t determine whether you’re a loser or not. That’s for the people who don’t know ball and are too stupid to understand the actual meaning behind losing. Our own mistakes and thoughts are what makes you a loser.” Coach Albert would be right, because before the game the team had allegedly taken locks, clothes, and other belongings from that locker room.
As the coach had said, the team had lost before the game even began. Not being locked into the game and not thinking about the task at hand ultimately resulted in the tragic loss they took. The game consisted of 3 interceptions and only 3 touchdowns. Unfortunately with so many mental mistakes, along with way too much goofing around during practices, the Diamondbacks had little to no chance of winning.
With the Desert Oasis Diamondbacks now being 4-3 and on a losing streak, their playoff chances are looking low. However, if they can lock into the task at hand and push themselves to be better than the last couple weeks they may have a chance. With all the controversy from the fans and criticism from the people of the community, all odds seem against the Diamondback football team. Hopefully however, they can pull through and win that state title they’ve been working all winter, spring, and summer for.
