Two well known people Mike Tyson and Jake Paul had a boxing match that took place November 15th, streamed on Netflix. The two had ongoing drama for months starting March 7th, when the fight was first finally announced.
The fight was located at the AT&T stadium in Arlington, Texas. The two of them had been promoting the fight all year long with interviews and posts on social media. Mike Tyson, a professional boxer has been known as the greatest boxer of all time for decades. Jake Paul, a famous YouTuber has been boxing for quite some time now but it wasn’t expected of him to fight Tyson since he’s such a well known fighter. This raised concern among the public questioning the intentions of the fight.
“The fight was probably for them to both gain money and they knew it would cause a lot of attention to themselves.” – Myah Sanchez, 12th.
Since both fighters are well known people, millions tuned globally just to watch them. Netflix made a statement that the live event made a number of 108 million viewers globally making it the, “Most streamed sporting event ever.” According to Netflix’s statistics their broadcast peaked at 65 million concurrent households in the US and 56% was on the fight between 12 am to 1 am.
“I’m not surprised it was the most streamed sporting event on Netflix, it was anticipated for months and they’re both extremely famous people.” – Abel Wondrad, 12th.
The overall events of the fight ended with Paul winning having the scores be 80-72, 79-73, and 79-73. Tyson was defeated by a unanimous decision in an eight-round heavyweight match. All three judges agreed on the scores making it easily decided.
“The fight is unfair, it’s a 27 year old vs someone who is in their 50’s he would’ve lost against someone else easily. He had the favor of being 31 years younger than him.” – Caydince Taylor, 10th.
