For the first time in 30 years, the legendary Beatles have been nominated for a Grammy Award, making it 60 years since their first ever nomination.
This recognition underscores their enduring influence on the music world. Desert Oasis student and Beatles enthusiast, Aziz Lewis, attributes their lasting legacy to their unparalleled song writing and genre-spanning influence.
“They impacted genres like rock, pop, psychedelics, and even metal,” Lewis said, adding that their music remains timeless and universally recognized.
The band’s latest nomination includes Now and Then, an AI collaboration using a 1977 demo recorded by John Lennon. The track, originally taped on a home cassette recorder, was revitalized with the help of artificial intelligence, which isolated Lennon’s vocals from the noisy background. Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr worked to complete this song, blending their talents with George Harrison’s earlier guitar contributions.
The project beautifully mixes the past and the present, allowing fans to experience a new Beatles release decades after their split.
