Diamondback Robotics Club Is participating in First Robotics Competition (FRC), going to compete on March 30th, 2022. After all their hard work, club members are eager to see their creation in progress.

Robotics improves students with their communication skills and their ability to overcome obstacles additionally educating students to be patient and to trust the process, more importantly trust their peers.

“It’s not scary to work with other people. It seems scary at first because it appears like school group projects,” Chloe continues,  “though when you find people that are interested in the same thing and want to actually do it, it’s pretty simple.”

As competition season continues, the Robotics club has been continuously working on enhancing their robot. This year the challenge includes shooting a ball into a hub and getting your machine to ascend up some medal bars.

“For the students, we have to go ahead and engineer a robot so that it can accomplish these tasks,” Robotics Advisor, Mr. Sarabyn explains, “Then we actually have to build the robot. Cut the parts out, put them together, electrical, these are all life skills that the students will have once they leave. It’s STEM education.”

Competition season started the first week of January and continues till the end of April. After their first match on March 30th, The World Championships are going to be held two weeks thereafter in Houston, Texas, and that culminates the season for robotics.

“Other teams that have noticed us have been very impressed with how much that we’ve accomplished. We’ve done really well as a first year team, rookie team with designing and building our robot,” Sarabyn eagerly explains, “We are looking next year to increase even more and get more students involved. Our plan is to do some outreach programs with elementary and middle schools so they do know that there’s a robotics team here at Desert Oasis.”
