Over the course of this year, movie theaters across the valley will be showcasing past films from the beloved Studio Ghibli as part of the Studio Ghibli Fest 2022. The film fest will act as a commemoration to the dozens of movies that have been produced by the breathtaking animation studio. With the likes of studios such as Disney and Pixar, Studio Ghibli has become a well established entertainment mogul, with highly regarded movies such as the studio’s Spirited Away (2001) and other films such as My Neighbor Totoro (1988).

Approaching the start of next month, from April 3rd to April 6th, the film fest will start off by showcasing Princess Mononoke in honor of the movie’s 25th anniversary. With a movie over two and a half decades old, the question appears that how is it that a movie so old still attracts viewers to come out and watch these retrogrades in person? This is simply a result of the beautiful storytelling that Studio Ghibli has been able to accomplish for decades past and present. The visuals of these films still hold up to this day, not failing to hold a nostalgic flare to the movies with decades to their name.

Why should you buy tickets to see at least one of the movies showcased in the Studio Ghibli Fest 2022? Simply put, it is an experience that is unlike any other. For fans of the animation studio, the nostalgic surge of seeing these great spectacles showcased on the big screen is an experience that is by far worth it. If you are not already familiar with movies such as Princess Mononoke or Howl’s Moving Castle, no need to worry, this film fest would be the perfect opportunity to see these animated stories play out on the big screen. All the film’s hold similar qualities of telling stories that are simple in nature and easy to follow, while still showcasing grand lessons and visuals to accompany them.

If you are still not convinced, I implore you to watch at least one movie from the beloved animation studio. The film fest is spread throughout the months, so there is still plenty of opportunity to catch at least one of these movies in cinema before the year is over.
