When spring starts, Baseball starts, as we get our way back into the baseball season, the Desert Oasis Baseball team starts off the preseason tournament with a record of 4-1.

“Honestly there’s just lots of energy and excitement that we finally get to be back in the jerseys again,” Seth Graham, and Jake Cook, quoted.

The baseball players this year finally get to be back on the field again doing what they love most. Due to covid, it was definitely a struggle to continue playing baseball but now they have been practicing 3 hours, Monday through Saturday.

“During Covid it was definitely a struggle to keep playing and practicing but we got through it and honestly it has improved us because we got more time to workout and practice and stuff like that,” Jake Cook and Seth Graham said.

Jake Cook and Seth Graham are 2 players on varsity this year. They are currently both Juniors. They have gone through their high school baseball years together and made a good bond, but not only are they really good friends on the field but also off the field.

“Seth and I are good friends cause we both wanna be great at everything we do and our energy matches,” Jake Cook states, “we have a lot of the same interests and like being around each other. I like how he strives to achieve all his goals and can always be that ‘go to’ friend for anything I need”

The bonds through the years have grown not only between Jake and Seth but the whole team. Now that all the baseball players have a better connection with each other, they have become a better team, and teamwork is definitely one of the most important factors on the field.

Jet Gilliam states, “Good teamwork is a good team bond, and a good team bond means playing better for the team”

This season the whole team hopes to go all the way and make it to states and win it. Now that their teamwork and trust has developed, it has made them better individually and as a whole.

Seth Graham states, “I’m hoping we make it to states this year, and like not just me but the whole team. We have definitely been working hard and practicing a lot and hopefully that will pay off.”

Going to states wouldn’t just be about winning it but hanging out with each other and having fun. When the team goes out of state to competitions, they all make sure they work hard but not forget to have fun too.

“Some of my favorite memories are when we go out of state and just the stuff we do as a team out of baseball,” Jake Cook said, “some of the things we’ve done we’re karaoke, water rafting, and paintballing.

The team can’t wait to keep building better relationships, but for the seniors on the team there time at D.O will be ending.

Tyler Stott states, “Leaving DO is gonna be a sad time but i’ll be leaving with good friendships and knowing that I have a good bond with all of my teammates and coaches.”
