Varsity Softball Team’s Road to the Playoffs
April 18, 2022
Varsity Softball has high expectations for the next season. They’ve had a terrific start to the season and have proved to be unbeatable. The squad aspires to be state champions and is willing to work hard to achieve that goal. Aisah Findlay is a returning junior who is looking forward to a successful season.
“The energy this season is way different than it was last year,” Findlay said. “Last year’s season wasn’t as fun only because it wasn’t a full schedule and everyone was weary about getting Covid. This year it’s a lot more energetic and a lot more fun because everyone knows each other and has played with each other before so we’ve created a bond. So far this season, we’ve created memories that wouldn’t have been imaginable last season.”
This team has been able to get back together after the dreadful days of Covid. Despite the fact that the previous season was difficult due to the various changes brought on by the epidemic, they are optimistic about this season. Many people are relieved to finally be able to participate in the sport they have been missing.
“My favorite position is second base,” Findlay said. “This has always been my favorite position since I first started when I was about five years old. I love being one of the leaders in the infield and I think that I showcase that out on the field at second. It involves a lot of movement, energy, and communication with the rest of my team.”
The girls are able to succeed and win while playing their favored positions. They can all work together and be unstoppable because of their diverse abilities. They are putting in long hours at practice in order to perform well in games and show the public what they have been missing.
“My goals for this season is to have more colleges look at me, to step up and take more of a leadership role, and to be a role model for the other girls,” Findlay said. “I hope my team takes it far this season and we end up in a good spot in playoffs.”
Many young women aspire to continue their athletic careers beyond high school. They want to have a good season so that universities can see their abilities. They have formed strong bonds with their teammates and enjoy playing together. This season, come out and support the incredible Desert Oasis Softball team.
