The Durango fall classic began on September 22nd and came to a close on the 23rd. The championship event was held at Durango High School in Las Vegas.
The classic is a prestigious women’s high school volleyball tournament that is held annually; the event has been ongoing since 1995.
This year 63 teams competed for the champion title. In the end Mater Dei High School from Santa Ana, CA took home the title.
Mira Costa High School from Manhattan Beach, CA was the runner-up for the championship, while Cathedral Catholic High School and Sierra Canyon High School tied for 3rd.
Being invited to the DFC is considered an honor, and an excellent opportunity to display an athlete’s skills.
Desert Oasis High School made it to the semi-finals of the Challenger division, but lost to Lakewood High School. DOHS ended up placing 60th among all of the teams.
Some of this year’s sponsors were Gatorade, Baller TV, and ASICS.
Overall, the tournament was a success. We look forward to next year’s Durango Fall Classic.
