On October 6th, 2023, Drake released his 8th album called “For All the Dogs”.
It was hyped to be certified “old Drake”. Although it’s a really good album, there isn’t much of the “old Drake” flow in his newest songs.
“8 am in Charlotte” is probably the only song that has that old Drake flow. It’s very similar to “Western Road Flows” in his album “Views”. Granted, it doesn’t succeed our expectations of old Drake; the album still doesn’t disappoint.
Songs such as “Drew a Picasso” and “Virginia Beach” have a really good beat, not to mention the use of lyrics he provides to his fans.
Those songs have lyrics that not only are relatable, but catchy. Most of his songs each have their own vibe. The album doesn’t stick to a certain mood, you get to feel all sorts of emotions during the hour and half album.
“Rich Baby Daddy” is probably the most hype song on the album. It features Sexyy Red and SZA and with both their unique singing styles, it just gives you the feeling of wanting to get up and dance. Definitely a good club song!
His features were fitting for each song, as well.
One being “First Person Shooter” featuring J Cole. You get to witness their dynamic flow that they produce when they make a song together; which 9 times out of 10, is a hit!
To add on, his song with 21 Savage was a banger as well; although, there was a 2 min break in the middle of the song, which caused uproar; It still came out to be a good song.
Before the album was released, Drake gave us a sneak peak of one of the songs on the album and it happened to be “Slime You Out” featuring SZA. This made everyone go crazy due to the fact that they’ve had beef for years, let alone the vibe the song gave off.
The song was more of a breakup-love song, which was very fitting due to their problems in the past.
Drake’s creativity and talent has caused this album to be a prospect for album of the year. He performed each song perfectly and was able to still make his fans feel something given any mood.
Drake has had a lot of hits and misses, but “For All The Dogs” is definitely one of those hits. It’ll be one of those albums that never gets old and will still be a bop 20 years from now.
