LANA DEL REY DOES NOT WIN A GRAMMY
On February 4, 2024, many artists attended the Grammy Awards. The goal of the Grammy Awards is to honor outstanding achievements to the music industry. Lana Del Rey performed “Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd?” at the Grammys. People participate at the Grammy Awards in an attempt to gain recognition for their music. Many people believe that Del Rey’s performance was outstanding, people expected someone with over 23 billion streams would have at the very least received a Grammy for her hard work and dedication. Unfortunately, that was not the case. With roughly eleven nominations, Lana Del Rey has not won any Grammy awards. “What Was I Made For?” by Billie Eilish, defeated Lana Del Rey for the Grammy. Although many believe that Billie Eilish deserved the award, they had still thought Lana Del Rey deserved at least one Grammy for ‘Album of the Year’.

Many fans were disappointed that Lana Del Rey did not win a Grammy after the award show. This created some controversy on the internet. Countless widely shared videos show Del Rey appearing heartbroken, angry, and emotionless in response to her Grammy loss. In addition many people had accused Taylor Swift of dragging her on stage to shove the Grammy in her face. Nonetheless, Taylor acknowledged Lana Del Rey as an influence to all artists in her remarks. It is commonly believed that someone who could have served as a model for future Grammy Winners deserves to have received recognition for their accomplishments as a “blueprint.”
According to an insider of the Grammys, one of the Album of The Month voters who is a middle-age man gave his reasons for why he had not voted Lana Del Rey but instead voted for Taylor Swift. He claims to “haven’t taken Lana Del Rey seriously as an artist since her infamous SNL performance and never will.” Although he didn’t seem much amused by Swift’s new music. He continued to criticize a few more artists for their poor music. Boygenius’ music dissatisfied him and Fiona Apple’s music is dull. He complains that these newer artists are taking spots over actual rock musicians such as the Foo Fighters or Springteen.
Responses from this viral Tiktok exposing Grammy voters, were extremely upset from the fact that the voter was debunking her from a live TV performance that happened three years ago. And many disagree and call the Grammys rigged and the middle-age man is in disbelief that music can change over time.
